Cops investigate string of car burglaries

Police are investigating a string of car burglaries in Belmont.

Residents say thieves smashed in several car windows early yesterday morning. One victim says his speakers were stolen while another vehicle's dashboard was torn out and the radio taken.

The NYPD and National Automobile Theft Bureau recommend parking in a well-lit area, making sure all windows are closed and placing valuables in the vehicle out of sight to prevent future break-ins.

Anyone with information about the break-in spree is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
