Two firefighters, civilian injured in apartment building fire

(09/10/10) MOTT HAVEN - Two firefighters and a civilian were hospitalized after a fire ravaged an apartment building on E. 140th Street Friday afternoon.

Officials say firefighters were called to building just before 3 p.m. They say it took nearly 45 minutes to get the fire under control.

Two firefighters were transported from the scene to area hospitals with unknown injuries. A civilian, whom they rescued from the third floor, was also transported to a nearby hospital. The civilian and one of the firefighters are listed as being in stable condition. The other firefighter is said to be in serious condition.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
