DOT approves speed bump for dangerous block

? The Department of Transportation is installing a speed bump at East 214th Street where a 5-year-old was struck in August.

The accident occurred at 930 East 214th St. just before 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 and was caught on a security tape.

Police say the boy, Joshua Saunders, ran into the street to chase a ball, when a Nissan Pathfinder struck him and dragged him more than 50 feet down the road.

Residents said at the time speed bumps were necessary on the road.
