Residents favor bill for city to remove raccoons
Residents on Middletown Road are in support of a bill that puts responsibility on the city to remove raccoons from the area.
Residents say a family of six raccoons has invaded the backyard at 3210 Middletown Road. If passed, the new bill could put the responsibility of their removal onto the Department of Health and Hygiene.
The health department says it does remove raccoons from an area if the animal is sick, injured or has injured a person or pet. If these instances have not occurred, then the property owner must contact the Department of Environmental Conservation for proper animal removal procedure.
