Riverdale school using sun to power up

(09/20/10) RIVERDALE - A Riverdale school has a new, environmentally friendly way to power up.

The Riverdale Country School has added more than 100 new solar electrical panels to its campus. The panels came as a fundraising gift from last year's graduating class and are expected to provide 10 percent of the building's electricity to its theater and classrooms.

The school expects to save $6,000 the first year and more than $300,000 over the next 25 years.
