23 Jacobi workers part of citywide cuts

As part of citywide cuts, 23 grounds crew workers at Jacobi Medical Center are losing their jobs.

The plan is part of larger cut to reduce the workforce of New York City hospitals and health care by 10 percent. According to the Health and Hospitals Corporation, the cuts provide $600 million in savings.

The workers were to be laid off Friday, but their union, Local 924, is fighting the decision. The employees are currently at work until further notice.
