Bangladeshi men say they're being targeted in Parkchester

(09/29/10) PARKCHESTER - A crime spree in Parkchester has left some Bangladeshi residents feeling targeted.

M.D. Islim says he still shakes in fear walking down St. Raymond?s Avenue. Two weeks ago, he says he was mugged by a group of thugs while walking from his home. He says they stole his phone and hundreds of dollars in cash. He was left with scars on his forehead, nose and bottom lip.

Islim is just one of nine Bangladeshi men who said they were robbed in Parkchester within the last three weeks. Each of the men say the attacks happened after they passed by Caserta playground during the evening hours.

Police say they do not suspect the attacks are bias or hate crimes.
