Plain-clothes cops shoot off-duty officer after scuffle

An allegedly drunk, off-duty corrections officer was shot by police early Saturday following a scuffle in a Morrisania bar.

Police say Victor Hernandez was reportedly intoxicated when plain-clothes NYPD officers confronted him at 161st Street and 3rd Avenue.

Witnesses say several people called 911 to complain about Hernandez after an incident in "Club Legends" around 3:45 a.m.

Police say the undercover officers who responded identified themselves and demanded that Hernandez drop his weapon. He allegedly ignored their order and pointed the gun in their direction when officers opened fire and struck him in the arm.

The officers involved were not physically hurt, but have been taken to Jacobi Medical Center for trauma.
