Police hunt for 2 who assaulted, robbed Soundview woman

Police are searching for two suspects, a male and a female, who allegedly assaulted and robbed a woman in the lobby of her Boyton Avenue building on Thursday.

Surveillance video shows the suspects followed Ignacia Tumbaco, 53, into her building. Then, investigators say they grabbed and hit Tumbaco repeatedly before fleeing with her purse, a ring, insurance cards, and several hundred dollars in cash.

Tumbaco was found bleeding badly on the stairs by a neighbor. She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where doctors told her she suffered two broken bones in her face. Tumbaco says she will now have to undergo surgery later this week.
