Activists urge action after alleged anti-gay beatings

The alleged anti-gay beatings of three men in University Heights has local activists speaking out and calling on residents to be more vocal in their opposition to such attacks.

"We need to have more of an active role in the community in terms of getting clergy and local leaders involved and trying to get more services to the kids," said Miguel Santana, of the Community Empowerment Network.

Experts say parents must help in destroying the myth among many young people that joining a gang can be a way out.
