Lights on brings attention to after-school programs

Residents marked the 11th anniversary of ?Keep the Lights on After School? yesterday aimed at highlighting how important after-school events are to student success.

Several schools held events to showcase their after-school programs. Organizers say the nationwide protest is to encourage lawmakers not to cut funding for after-school programming.

There were more than 7,500 rallies for after-school programming across the country.
