Woman says repairs made after home flooded with raw sewage

An elderly Bronx woman says she grateful for all the help she received when her apartment flooded with raw sewage yesterday.

According to Bertha Canton, city workers cleaned up the mess and made repairs to her Trinity Avenue home after sewage started pouring out of her toilet early Thursday morning.

Canton says she called News 12 The Bronx after being ignored by the New York City Housing Authority.

According to housing authority officials, a crew was sent out as soon as they learned of the problem. They say Canton was also provided dinner and given the option to temporarily relocate.

Workers say the problem appears to have been an underground waste pipe.
