Lawmakers call for suspended parking meters during holidays
Local politicians are calling for the Department of Transportation to suspend metered parking over the holidays.
Shoppers would be allowed two hours of free parking under the proposed law. A bag would be placed over the meter to show it?s not in use. Parking officials could mark each car?s tires to monitor the time.
The proposal is designed to increase business during the holiday shopping season. A similar measure is already in use in parts of Westchester.
