Bronx Muslims celebrate Eid-al-Adha

Muslims all over the borough are celebrating Eid-al-Adha or the festival of sacrifice today.

Eid-Al-Adha marks the end of Hajj and is one of the holiest days in Islam. The day marks the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah. The Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that all devout Muslims must make once in their lifetime.

Bronx Muslims gathered at the Islamic Cultural Center on Westchester Avenue. Many say the holiday is a time to spend with family and friends.
