City furloughs to mean bumpy rides across BX
Mayor Michael Bloomberg's city budget cuts will likely signal bumpier rides for motorists across the Bronx. As part of his plan to solve New York City's budget crisis, 641 street-maintenance and arterial-resurfacing employees will be forced to take furloughs. The Department of Transportation says the week-long furloughs would mean 9,000 fewer potholes being filled. Drivers such as Michael Ferguson says he's troubled by the plan since potholes are dangerous and can cause accidents when motorists try to avoid them. Bloomberg still needs union approval to proceed with his plan.
