Bronx man fills need for turkeys at food pantry
A Bronx man who once depended on food pantries to get a hot meal has donated 200 turkeys this year to needy families.
Lawrence King, the general manager of Room To Room Furniture, says he was once a regular at the POTS (Part of the Solution) soup kitchen and food pantry.
King says a News 12 The Bronx report yesterday about the food pantry's shortage of holiday turkeys inspired him to rally his employees to pitch in at least $20 for the turkeys.
And not only did King find a way to donate 200 turkeys in two days, he's opening up his home for Thanksgiving to recovering addicts from halfway houses in the Bronx and serving them hot meals.
