120 residents displaced by fire struggle during holiday season

Several families are struggling during the holiday season after a fire displaced 120 people and killed one person Saturday.

The fire erupted in a five-story building on East 169th Street, west of the Grand Concourse, according to fire officials. The Red Cross is providing temporary shelter for the residents who are unable to return home.

A small group of residents say they were allowed back into their apartments today to grab whatever possessions weren't damaged by the smoke and flames

However, many of those affected say they will have a grim holiday season without many of their possessions or their homes.
