Not-for-profit program suffers from deep funding cuts

A non-profit program that normally gives out holiday toys to hundreds of teen moms has lost its funding this year.

Teenage Services Act Program helps pregnant teens go back to school and find jobs, among the many other services. Every year during the holiday season, the program rewards the moms with a holiday bash that includes gifts for their children.

New York Cares usually donates the gifts in the past but this year, the group?s funding has been cut, leaving many faculty members to dig deep into their own pockets.

The cuts mean the program is depending heavily on the generosity of the community. It is currently accepting toys for all ages, diapers and baby clothes for the holiday bash slated for Dec. 17.
