Red Cross helping families evacuated after oil spill

The Red Cross is helping about two dozen families tonight after they were ordered to evacuate their building.

Fire officials say there was an oil spill in the basement of 12-04 Shakespeare Ave. Authorities tell News 12 The Bronx there are about 24 apartments in the building.

The Red Cross has requested three MTA buses to help keep the families warm. The organization is working to help the affected families find temporary housing until the building is declared safe to live in.
