Police officer, sergeant praised for saving baby

An NYPD sergeant and police officer are being praised for saving a 14-month-old who was having trouble breathing.

Officials say the baby's mother drove to the 43rd Precinct for help. They say officer Jose Vargas and Sgt. Rogelio Pagan were able to clear mucus from the child's throat and nose.

Police say the child never lost consciousness, but was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for observation.
