Residents: Tree root damaging sidewalk, plumbing

Throgs Neck residents say an overgrown tree is heaving up the sidewalk and damaging plumbing.

Residents say the roots are wrapping around plumbing and causing sewage problems. Many say the tree is growing too large for the area and should be cut down by the city. The cost to cut down the tree would be $13,000 and residents say they shouldn?t have to foot the bill.

Residents say they have repeatedly called the city to no avail. The Parks Department has not returned News 12?s phone calls for a comment.
