Bronx program helps veterans find jobs

A program available in the Bronx is helping servicemen and women returning from overseas to compete in today's tough job market.

During the Per Scholas 15-week course, veterans learn how to create a resume and how to walk into a room with confidence, among other skills.

The organization was given a grant by Microsoft to help veterans and their spouses make the transition from the battlefield to the workforce. Organizers say the program has 40 veterans enrolled this year.

Veteran Dwayne Moorehead, who graduated in September, says he now works as a copy-repair technician and that the program helped him get an edge on the competition.

Administrators say next year, they hope to double the numbers of students taking part in the program.
