Meeting set to be held on vacant space at Kingsbridge Armory

The Kingsbridge Armory task force is scheduled to meet tomorrow to discuss further ideas for the vacant space, nearly a year after the Bronx City Council voted down a proposed $300 million mall.

The project came to an end after living-wage negotiations failed between developers and those in the community.

Many Bronx residents say they were hoping the mall would create needed jobs for the borough. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. says he still believes the mall would have been bad for the area, creating hundreds of lost jobs along the Fordham Road district.

Officials say they are also planning to meet with members of the film industry to discuss turning the armory into a production studio.
