Truck spills debris onto Hutch after striking overpass

Spuds spilled out from a tractor-trailer that got pinned under an overpass on the Hutchinson River Parkway this morning.

The driver of the 18-wheeler says he didn't see the "No Trucks" signs when he merged onto the parkway from I-95. The accident stalled southbound traffic for hours.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) says the overpass is one of five locations that account for 89 percent of overpass strikes in the entire state.

The DOT helped clean up the mess. Another trucking company picked up the potatoes that didn't end up on the roadway.
