Dept. of Sanitation hiring people to shovel snow

The Department of Sanitation is hiring people to shovel snow at an hourly rate.

The department is paying workers $12 an hour to shovel snow away from crucial areas, including fire hydrants, bus stops and steps.

Applicants must be 18 years old, eligible to work in the United States and are asked to bring two small photos and two documents to prove identity and employment eligibility.

The hourly rate jumps to $18 once the total numbers of hours worked exceeds 40 hours.

People can sign up at any sanitation garage or call 311 for more information.
