School bus catches fire on East 143rd Street in Mott Haven

A school bus bursted into flames Wednesday afternoon in Mott Haven during its route home.



The school bus was carrying two children, a bus driver and one other adult on East 143rd Street.



A witness says he saw smoke coming from the front of the bus and saw the driver stop and get everyone off in time. The bus then caught fire. The witness says it spread quickly.



Responding fire crews were able to extinguish the fire. News 12 was told that the two children were able to get home safely after the incident.
