Orchard Beach to officially open Saturday

New York City's beaches, including Orchard Beach in the Bronx, will officially open Saturday for Memorial Day weekend.

According to the New York City Parks Department, 15 million people visited New York City beaches last summer.

Orchard Beach is currently open now, but lifeguards are not on duty until Saturday, so swimming is not allowed before then. In two weeks, Bronx native Jennifer Lopez will be performing a free concert at the beach's drop-off area.

The beach will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m through Labor Day.
