Fireman, son remember 9/11 experiences
Richard Santiago and Mathew Liz both stood quietly when they heard the news that Osama Bin Laden had been killed.
Santiago was a 9/11 first responder. He acted quickly after the attack on the Twin Towers to rescue those affected. Today, Santiago suffers from several illnesses as a result of exposure to dust in the wake of the attack.
Mathew Liz proudly displayed the essay about how his social studies teacher, Mrs. Maruri Cox, was an inspiration to him after the grade-school student lost his mother on 9/11.
Both Santiago and Liz said they remembered the loved ones they lost and their own experiences. They hope that the U.S. can take steps to end the war on terror.
