Police warn residents of Morris Park robberies

Police are warning Morris Park residents about a group of robbers who are preying on commuters near a subway stop.

Officials say five victims have been attacked and robbed in the area since March.

Police say all of the robberies happened in the middle of the night and three of them were at the Morris Park 5 subway station. They say a group of men hide out on the block, attack their victims from behind and rob them.

Investigators say they have arrested 19-year-old Tony Coxum in connection with the robberies. They say they believe Coxum was the robbery ring leader since no other incidents have happened since his arrest.

Police are urging residents to stay on high alert despite the arrest.
