Subway line terminal on-time performance drops

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority released a report that shows several subway lines recorded drops in on-time performance for March.

According to the new statistics, nearly 90 percent of 3 trains were marked as "on time" in March 2010. However, one year later, only 71.8 percent of trains arrived on time.

Some of the worst drops in performance were also reported on the 5 trains, which fell by nearly 16 percent, and the 2 trains, which were down by 17 percent.

On-time performance is measured by whether a subway train reaches the terminal at the end of its route within five minutes of its scheduled time. An MTA spokesperson says an extensive amount of track and signal work resulted in the delays.
