Bronx women's center struggling to stay open

A Bronx non-profit organization that helps shape young girls into educated women is struggling to remain open due to a lack of resources and funding.

The center, Casa Atabex Ache, has been a resource for victims of domestic violence, teen moms and other struggling young women for years. It used to be open every day, but now it can only afford to open its doors about twice a week, with its small staff also forgoing a salary.

Workers say the organization is financed by private grants, but that the money has slowly dwindled away. They have been working hard to put sustainable funding proposals together in an effort to get the center operating at full capacity by September.
