Service Employees Int'l Union votes in favor of strike

The trash could pile up at thousands of workplaces throughout the city after a union representing cleaning staffs voted to authorize a strike.
Local 32BJ, of the Service Employees International Union, is battling management over a proposed two-tiered wage scale in which new hires would get paid less than current workers.
The two sides have until Dec. 31 to reach an agreement before the union's contract expires.
