Protest over closing of community garden leads to arrests

A protest over the closing of a local community garden today led to a number of arrests and citations after demonstrators allegedly refused to comply with police orders.

The rally took place at the Morning Glory Garden at Southern Boulevard and 147th Street.

Officials say five people were arrested and several others were issued summonses after the protesters refused to stop blocking the sidewalk.

Protesters say they want to prevent the beloved community garden from being forcibly closed.
