$100,000 donation saves Muslim-run food pantry

Struggling Highbridge families won't go hungry this holiday season after two $50,000 donations were made to help the area's Muslim-run food pantry from shutting its doors.
The pantry, which is operated by the Muslim Women's Institute for Research and Development, received the monetary donations from the Collegiate Church Corporation.
"We think it's an important gesture because it extends beyond lines of faith, which is an important aspect of our work here," says Collegiate Church Corporation.
In all, the pantry has received more than $120,000 in donations to keep it running.
The funds will be used to pay four months in back rent, utilities and other operational costs. Some of it will also be sued to pay staff members who say they haven't received a pay check since last May.
