In-demand devices such as smartphones and iPods are also high up on the list for potential thieves. Experts say some riders on home owners or rental insurance also include electronics theft.
Just this month, local authorities dismantled a brazen theft ring that supplied iPods and iPads to be sold at Brooklyn bodegas.
