AAA estimates that 92 million people will be traveling by car between today and Jan. 2.
This means travelers should expect major gridlock on the roads for the remainder of the holiday season.
Drivers should also expect higher gas prices, as compared to this time last year, although the average gas prices are well below this year?s peaks.
If you are driving a short distance, the Department of Transportation is advising commuters to take mass transit.
AAA also noted that airports may be a little less crowded, as air travel is down 10 percent compared to last year?s figures.
Weather conditions for the holiday season are also expected to be favorable.
