Times Square gears up to ring in 2012

Final preparations are under way in Times Square as the city gears up to ring in 2012.

Workers are putting the finishing touches on the world famous New Year's Eve ball drop, complete with new LED bulbs to meet next year's stricter lighting efficiency standards.

More than one million people are expected to stand and watch the globe of lights descend from above them at the stroke of midnight.
