Teachers union: Education cuts affecting kids' education

Education cuts are causing increased class sizes and reduced opportunities for students, according to a new report from the United Federation of Teachers.

The union is upset over years of cuts putting 30 students in a classroom and some schools being forced to cut programs such as Advanced Placement classes.

Some teachers say they are forced to buy textbooks and paper for their students with their own money. They also say that many classes don't have teacher's aides and that students aren?t getting the attention they need to learn.

The union says that the oversized classrooms could be in violation of its contract with the city and it is debating taking legal action.
