Once homeless and on drugs, BX man takes on NYC marathon
A Bronx man who conquered homelessness and a drug dependency has set his sights on a new challenge: the New York City Marathon. Rob Vassilarakis says he was addicted to crystal meth for 15 years. Now, he says he's "addicted to running." He's part of the Foot Locker Five Borough marathon team. He says his goal is to finish the course in less than four hours on Sunday. Vassilarakis says he hopes his story will inspire others to find the "freedom on the other end."
