Town hall held on Morris Park crime concerns

Posted: Updated:

Crime concerns in Morris Park were the topic of a town hall meeting last night, with more than 100 residents, the NYPD and local politicians all in attendance.

Officers were alerted to several neighborhood problems and said they are working to prevent crimes, including car mirror thefts and home burglaries, by installing more cameras. They also said that they're trying to actively identify and follow suspects believed to be committing the crimes.

Some people emphasized that it's up to the community as well to ban together and keep the area safe.

State Sen. Jeff Klein (D-Bronx) said that the meetings are important because they help alert police to things that can be done to enhance the quality of life for all residents.
