St. Augustine Catholic Church's pantry may close

The 500 Bronx residents who rely upon the St. Augustine Catholic Church's pantry may be forced to turn elsewhere for food and clothing after it was announced that the church and pantry may close.

Officials say the pantry is having flooding issues and there is no heat, forcing the pantry to close for the winter while the church itself will require at least $23,000 in repairs.

Many of those in line for assistance say they depend on the pantry.

Church officials say they are hoping on temporarily moving the pantry to a garage a block away, but it too will need repairs before it opens.

They hope to have the new pantry open in time for Christmas.
