Military family worries about loved one serving in AfghanistanPosted: Updated:
As the United States approaches the 10th anniversary of the start of the war in Afghanistan, a Bronx family says it worries about its loved one fighting in the war.
Daniyel Rodriguez, of Concourse Village, is serving in Unit 227 in Afghanistan. His grandfather and two uncles were also members of the military. He was deployed back in April, and his wife, Sinead, and mother, Gloria, have only seen him once since.
"You're afraid for these young men that go out there and you want them to be home," says his mother.
Sinead Rodriguez sends her husband a care package every two weeks, complete with Power Bars because she says she doesn't want him losing energy when he's spending 20 hours in the field. His family says it is very proud of him and all the soldiers in Afghanistan, because they're protecting what they have at home.
