BX mom deployed to Afghanistan misses her children

Posted: Updated:

A Bronx native, Sgt. Javieliza Hammer, spoke with News 12 The Bronx about how hard it can be to be separated from her kids while deployed.

Hammer has three children, two of which live with her mom and the other with her husband.

"Wondering if your children miss you is the hardest part, especially when you're trying to go to sleep at night." She says.

Hammer says she has had those sleepless nights since she deployed to Afghanistan in August.

Skype has helped her keep in touch with her children even though she says that sometimes it hurts more than it helps. Her children also send her letters, the most recent saying ?I love my mommy.?

Even though she has only been deployed for two months, Javieliza says she misses her kids as if she's been away for a decade.
