Study: Hispanics are the least-treated for asthmaPosted: Updated:
A new study reveals that a significant number of Hispanics in New York are suffering from asthma, yet are the least-treated for the condition.
The study by the American Lung Association shows that 3 million Hispanics struggle to breathe in New York.
The Hispanic population is less likely to seek regular medical treatment, either because of lack of access to health care or simply because they don?t have time to visit a doctor, according to the American Lung Association.
According to the CDC, Puerto Ricans have the highest rates of asthma in the United States, with 15.7 percent suffering. The CDC says 6.7 percent of Dominicans have asthma and 3.4 percent of Mexicans have the condition.
