Officials: More than 17 people living in illegally subdivided home
Officials say they have ordered residents of a single-family home on Bailey Avenue to vacate after they say the home was illegally subdivided into more than half a dozen apartments.
They say that more than 17 people were living inside the home.
The New York City Department of Buildings boarded up the home and cemented the doors shut to prevent re-entry.
Officials say the landlord has violations dating back to 2007 and has amassed more than $150,000 in fines.
The stepped-up enforcement comes after four people were killed in a fire in an illegally subdivided home back in April.
