Ruling could put thousands of BX families on the street

Thousands of Bronx families who were once homeless could be heading back to shelters after a New York State Supreme Court judge ruled to shut down a program that moved people into permanent housing.

The ruling says New York City has the right to terminate the Advantage Program and has no binding obligation to continue the program if funds have run out.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. says the ruling was a terrible one and has instructed his office to work with families to find alternative housing.
