FEMA disaster center opens in the Bronx

FEMA declared The Bronx to be eligible for disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Irene, and starting today, residents and businesses can visit FEMA's disaster relief center in the borough to apply for financial assistance.

The center is located at Borough Hall on 851 Grand Concourse. Those seeking financial assistance for damage suffered will be able to get help filing all the paperwork needed. Organizers recommend individuals and business owners apply with FEMA before visiting the center.

FEMA's center will be open through Friday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
