Bronx Muslims welcome holy month of Ramadan

Bronx Muslims attended service today to mark the start of the holy month of Ramadan.Ramadan is held yearly during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar after the sighting of the new moon, which occurred on Saturday evening, and lasts for 29 to 30 days until the next new moon appears.

Worshippers will fast from sunset to sunrise and pray five times daily.Muslims say Ramadan is a time for inner reflection, devotion to God and self-control.
