Water main break closes streets near Jerome Ave.
Those who live and work on Jerome Avenue experienced déjà vu this afternoon after another water main break shut down several streets in the area.
Fire officials say water began gushing at around 5 a.m. at 1005 Jerome Ave. and E. 161st Street. Con Edison crews were able to quickly cap the break without disrupting subway or bus service. They say residents did not lose gas, water or electricity.
This incident comes just one week after a massive water main break left Jerome Avenue submerged in water. The force of that break was so powerful, it ripped up chunks of asphalt.
