Asphalt collapses due to water main break

Officials say a water main break near Southern Boulevard and Freeman Street caused the surrounding asphalt to collapse this afternoon.

They say the incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. and that no one was injured.

The Department of Environmental Protection is currently on the scene.

Residents in the area say they think Con Edison may be to blame for the latest water main break. The incident is the third of its kind in The Bronx in just two weeks.
